A marvellous display of a bittersweet life

Last Saturday the Shoreditch Festival 2012 kicked off so we got ourselves ready, armed with umbrellas (because the heavens literally opened up and stayed open for most of the day) and of course my camera to capture some of the action at the Hoxton Street Party. Due to the awful weather there was not a lot of people but we still managed to see a street band made up from festival goers with drums and other music instruments and popped into an interesting art gallery before we decided we had enough of being wet, so went on to have lunch with friends at a really lovely little pub on the way home. Check out the pictures below. (Click on the pictures to see the large versions.)

These boxes travelled across the world and opened up in London to reveal the ‘tracks’ of it’s handling – amazing!

  1. So many more festivals this summer than usual. It´s great. I went today to the Whitecross Street Party. By the way, the owners of that gallery in the picture might be in trouble for referring to the Olympics and using the logo of the movement… It´s crazy.

    • Yes its great! I think it helps us to feel summery considering we’ve not really had a proper summer so far. The Olympic rings in that art gallery in Hoxton was part of an installation that was themed ‘Olympics’. I didn’t take a photo of it but underneath the rings there was a related installation. I assume the artist and gallery owner got the appropriate permission to use it. :-)

      • Well, I´d assume that! I read this article on The Guardian yesterday where the strict branding that is being applied is actually damaging the image of the 2012 Games.

      • Yes I believe they are very strict this time around, perhaps a little too strict. Seems a bit over the top really, especially since they want to prevent social media photo sharing as well.
